What is Copal?

What is Copal? Where did it come from? What makes it sacred?

By ARMHouse

While I was traveling to and from Mexico, I felt very captivated by this scent… later learned it was “Copal”. I didn’t ask what it was, or where it was from, or the reason it was considered sacred— until I did.

What I noticed is, when I was in New York, my mornings and days felt more sacred when I began practicing with Copal. I felt more plugged in. I felt connected and clear. Sovereign.

The word Copal is comes from the Nahuatl word copalli, which means incense or resin. Copal is sourced from family trees in Mexico and Central America, and is a young found of amber. It is known as a purifier and spiritual substance in Aztec and Mayan rituals and ceremony— and considered the blood and immune system of trees. It directly connects you to the Earth and Spirit through senses.

Copal expresses as a bridger connecting the Human to the Divine— and, although the mind may want to understand why and how, you will notice your physical body soften in its presence which is what makes it so Spiritual. The unseen.

The intention behind what you learn here at ARM is to help bridge worlds, teachings, and each other. To learn what we may not learn in school, yet need to. To have unspoken conversations and place language to what we may not understand. To offer a space to explore your inner and outer world, and get in touch with untouched places.

May this support you on your path. Bless you.
